In being focused, it means the majority of projects are undertaken by the company’s owner and principal, Andy Bray. In a small company, job titles are pretty meaningless and so feel free to think of Andy as the MD or CEO or whatever you prefer. In statutory terms, Andy is a director of the limited company, Netrius International Ltd through which Netrius trades.
Andy set the company up in 2001 to provide a means to initially take what he had learned in his prior “day jobs” and offer fairly general marketing advice and guidance based on those 20 years of having run marketing programmes in-house. The initial target market was to small, innovative companies who would not be big enough yet to have invested in their own in-house marketing person. Over time the work has become much more focused into the sort of services you see from us today but we are now working with a broader range of clients.
Andy’s background is in the telecom and IT sector. Having learned his trade at Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC) – one of the most innovative names in IT in the 80s, he worked for equipment manufacturers in telecom in the 90s at a time when the Internet as we know it was still in its infancy. The largest of these vendors being Lucent Technologies, the former product arm of AT&T and the owners of the famour Bell Labs. Prior to setting up Netrius, Andy spent some time managing the marketing for a joint venture between Cisco and KPMG Consulting.
The geospatial experience has all come since. In 2004, Andy was appointed as interim manager for Ordnance Survey as their OS MasterMap Migration Manager. Since then at least 60% of Andy’s work has been in the geospatial world.
On occasions projects may need additional skills or knowledge but when you’ve been around for 30 years in business then you tend to know who to call upon.
